The 3D Hydrography Program

Carol Lydic, US Geological Survey

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) National Geospatial Program (NGP) has implemented the 3D Hydrography Program (3DHP) which marks the start of a new era of surface water data for the Nation.  This is the first systematic remapping of the Nation’s hydrography since the original USGS 1:24,000-scale topographic mapping program was active between 1947 and 1992.  3DHP will significantly improve the level of detail, currency, and content of hydrography data. This presentation will provide an overview of 3DHP and partnerships, highlight current data acquisition projects, showcase 3DHP products and services.

Carol Lydic works for the U.S. Geological Survey, National Geospatial Program, as the National Map Liaison for Colorado, New Mexico, Wyoming and Kansas.  As a Liaison, she performs outreach and coordination for key initiatives of the National Geospatial Program. Carol’s experience in mapping and geodesy includes technical and managerial roles involving national and international collaboration.
