COVID-19 Update:

March 19, 2020 at 7:40 AM

. . . Our much-anticipated Learn to Teach with GIS day of training must be postponed at this time due to COVID-19. The risks are too great, and most of our host facilities have shut down . . .

. . . It’s impossible to say at this point, but we will keep you posted as circumstances evolve. We sure appreciate the interest you have shown in learning the exciting technology that GIS is and hope to be able to carry out our training at some point in the future. In the meantime, I wish you and your families good health.

Best regards,

Karen Rogers,
President, WyGEO

We hope to reschedule these events safely in the fall based on current conditions. Check back and keep your eyes open for registration information.

Story Map Contest

Students can tell a story about their neck of the woods using online mapping technology and enter a competition for a trip to San Diego and Esri’s annual User Conference. Winning students can show off their work and learn even more about GIS!

What is this? Esri makes their software freely available to K-12 institutions, and they have sponsored a national competition for grades 4 – 12 for telling stories using their story map templates. Middle school and high school teachers are encouraged to assist their students in developing story maps using Esri’s web mapping technology and enter the contest for the San Diego User Conference trip.

2020 Contest Results:

Esri was not able to pick one national winner. Wyoming had these three entries, with the first one being our state winner:
Wyoming Winner: Seasonal Deer Movement
Deer Collisions and Prevention
Mule Deer Migration: Our Urban Deer
